Your Family is Already Beautiful
For same-sex couples and LGBTQ+ individuals, the path to parenthood often comes with extra hurdles. GlobalStork was built to remove them. We connect you with surrogates who are genuinely excited to help your family grow, in jurisdictions where your parental rights are protected from day one.
Surrogacy Designed for LGBTQ+ Families
We understand that building an LGBTQ+ family requires more than just matching with a surrogate. It requires partners who truly understand your journey.
Built for LGBTQ+ Families
We didn't add LGBTQ+ inclusion as an afterthought. It's woven into our platform from day one. Every surrogate on GlobalStork has explicitly confirmed her enthusiasm to help same-sex couples and LGBTQ+ individuals build their families.
Legal Experts in LGBTQ+ Family Law
Our legal partners specialize in LGBTQ+ parentage. They've secured thousands of birth certificates with both parents' names and know exactly how to navigate the specific requirements in each jurisdiction.
Surrogates Who Celebrate You
Every surrogate on our platform has been asked: 'Are you comfortable helping LGBTQ+ intended parents?' Only those who respond with genuine enthusiasm are matched with LGBTQ+ families. No awkward conversations. No hidden biases.
Community That Understands
Connect with other LGBTQ+ intended parents who've walked this path. Our community forums and support groups are spaces where you can ask questions, share experiences, and celebrate milestones with people who truly get it.
Where LGBTQ+ Surrogacy is Protected
Not all countries welcome LGBTQ+ intended parents equally. Here's your honest guide to the destinations where your family will be legally protected.
United States (California)
Gold StandardCalifornia pioneered LGBTQ+ surrogacy protections. Pre-birth orders ensure both parents appear on the birth certificate from day one. No genetic link required.
- Pre-birth parentage orders for both parents
- No genetic link required
- Baby is US citizen by birth
- Strongest legal protections globally
Colombia
Highly WelcomingColombia legalized same-sex marriage in 2016 and has clear court precedent for LGBTQ+ surrogacy. Both intended parents can be named on the birth certificate through the court process.
- Same-sex marriage legal since 2016
- Court process establishes both parents
- Double donation permitted
- Most affordable LGBTQ+ friendly option
Mexico (Limited)
Case-by-CaseMexico's surrogacy laws are evolving. While Sinaloa's law doesn't explicitly include same-sex couples, some agencies have successfully facilitated LGBTQ+ journeys. Proceed with experienced legal counsel.
- Close to US (short flights)
- Spanish-speaking agencies available
- Requires careful legal navigation
- Some success stories for LGBTQ+ families
Countries Not Available for LGBTQ+ Couples
Ukraine and Georgia currently restrict surrogacy to married heterosexual couples. While these countries offer lower costs, they do not provide legal pathways for LGBTQ+ families. We recommend Colombia as an affordable alternative with full LGBTQ+ protections.
Both Parents on the Birth Certificate
Your family deserves full legal recognition from day one. Our legal partners specialize in LGBTQ+ family formation and have secured birth certificates with both parents' names for hundreds of same-sex couples.
No second-parent adoptions. No legal uncertainty. Just your family, fully recognized.
Pre-Birth Planning
Before embryo transfer, our legal team drafts surrogacy agreements that explicitly establish your parental rights. In favorable jurisdictions, we file for pre-birth orders during the second trimester.
Birth Certificate Strategy
Depending on your chosen country, we pursue either pre-birth orders (USA) or post-birth court processes (Colombia). Our goal: both parents named on the original birth certificate.
Documentation & Citizenship
Once the birth certificate is issued with both parents, we guide you through passport applications and any citizenship registration required in your home country.
Return Home Protected
You'll travel home with full legal documentation establishing your family. No second-parent adoptions required in most cases.
Pre-Birth Orders (California)
Filed during the second trimester. Establishes both parents before birth. Your names appear on the original birth certificate—the surrogate's name is never listed.
Court Process (Colombia)
Completed 2-6 weeks after birth. Both parents are recognized through judicial order. The birth certificate is then issued with both parents' names.
LGBTQ+ Families Built With GlobalStork
“After two years of failed IVF with another agency, we were exhausted and honestly a bit hopeless. GlobalStork matched us with Anna in Colombia within three weeks. The transparency, the support, the genuine care—it was everything we needed. Our daughter is now six months old, and both our names are on her birth certificate. We are a complete family.”

LGBTQ+ Surrogacy FAQ
Can both parents be listed on the birth certificate?
Yes! In our recommended LGBTQ+ friendly destinations (California, Colombia), both intended parents can be named on the birth certificate. In California, this happens through a pre-birth parentage order before delivery. In Colombia, it's established through a post-birth court process that typically takes 2-6 weeks.
Do we need a genetic connection to the baby?
Not necessarily. California and Colombia both allow double donation (using both egg and sperm donors). If you want a genetic connection, one parent can provide sperm while using a donor egg. Our fertility partners will discuss all options during your consultation.
How much does LGBTQ+ surrogacy cost?
Costs range from $50,000-$70,000 in Colombia to $130,000-$200,000 in California. The price difference reflects surrogate compensation, medical costs, and legal complexity. Both destinations offer full LGBTQ+ protections—the choice depends on your budget, timeline, and preferences.
Will surrogates really want to work with us?
Absolutely. Our platform specifically asks every surrogate about their comfort with LGBTQ+ intended parents, and we only match you with surrogates who respond enthusiastically. Many of our surrogates specifically seek out same-sex couples because they believe deeply in family diversity.
What about international recognition of our parentage?
This varies by your home country. Birth certificates from California and Colombia are widely recognized. Our legal team can advise on any additional steps needed for your specific citizenship situation. In most cases, the birth certificate is sufficient documentation for travel and legal recognition.
Is surrogacy in Ukraine or Georgia an option for LGBTQ+ couples?
Unfortunately, no. Ukraine and Georgia restrict surrogacy to married heterosexual couples. We're transparent about this because we want you to pursue options that will protect your family legally. Colombia offers similar costs with full LGBTQ+ inclusion.
How long will the whole process take?
From profile creation to bringing your baby home, expect 16-24 months depending on your chosen country. This includes surrogate matching (2-6 months), medical procedures (2-3 months), pregnancy (9 months), and legal/documentation (1-2 months).
What if we're not married?
No problem! California and Colombia both welcome unmarried couples. In California, unmarried couples can both appear on the birth certificate through the same pre-birth order process. Colombia requires a court process but equally supports unmarried partners.
